Best startup funding databases in 2026
Ranked by what is readable without an account. Data as of 4 September 2026.
1. FundingWatcher
Free list pages for both halves, funded startups by sector, funding stage, city, country and accelerator, and a page per figure that prints the data date and a citation line. No account, no API, no round history.
2. PitchBook
Covers rounds in more depth than anything else here. The site publishes no price, and the records need a seat to open.
3. CB Insights
Strong on analyst research. The open lists are editorial picks, not a count of a file, and they carry no data date.
4. Dealroom
The best free ecosystem coverage here. The public output is report shaped, so a single number has no URL of its own.
5. Tracxn
Wide sector coverage. Counts move with the crawl and no dated file stands behind them.
6. Harmonic
Company and founder records with an API, all of it behind an account, so nothing on the site is quotable as it stands.
7. OpenVC
Free to search, but it is an investor list for founders raising a round and carries no startup side.
8. Crunchbase
The default place people look, and the most readable of the paid set. A profile shows one company at a time and never a counted total.
9. NFX Signal
Free and quick for a founder, with no company data behind it at all.
10. Growth List
Recently funded companies sold as sales leads. The rows are contacts to email rather than a file to read.
11. VC Sheet
A hand curated fund list, free to browse, with no startup side and no data date.
12. Preqin
Built around funds and allocators. Company level funding is not what it is for.
